Toby Marks aka Banco de Gaia, is a musician, producer and composer who has followed...
... his own creativity without compromise.
In 1992 Banco de Gaia first appeared on the Beyond Ambient Dub compilations, which were the forerunners of today's chill-out compilations. 10 Years takes in the decade since then, in which he has realeased 6 albums, starting with his Mercury Prize nominated debut, Maya.10 Tears is nominally divided into a beats and chill package, in as much as it is possible to classify Banco in those terms.
CD1 takes in the more up-tempo aspect of the Banco de Gaia beat machine with classics like 'Last Train to Lhasa', 'Kincajou', 'Obsidian' and 'Sakarya', which was available on the Six Degrees compilation Arabian Travels.
CD2 is a more chilled affair starting with 'Desert Wind' (from 1992's Ambient Dub Volume 1) featuring Ofra Haza and is followed by 'Celestine', featuring Dark Side Of The Moon saxophonist Dick Parry.
