and DJ Ken (also a label DJ for Parvati Records), this project was inspired by the work of the late, great Japanese anime and manga cartoonist Osamu Tezuku.
When first published, his work was not well understood by the Japanese people, in the same way that psychedelic trance is not well understood
by the most public now. It is hard to imagine a time when cartoon culture was not popular in Japan, but this indeed was the case and Tezuka was one of the
true pioneers. He is perhaps most famous for the Astroboy series, but it is the Phenix series that provides the inspiration for this compilation.
